Nowadays, permanently installed handrails are much more than a holding and guiding aid. Equipped with LEDs and attractively designed, they are safer and create a pleasant ambience. A well-known manufacturer of light strips was looking for a suitable light profile for a handrail and found it by working with mobil Kunststoffprofile. Extruded from special material, this profile is a component of the latest handrail designs. It is used, for example, in underpasses and overpasses at railway stations, on emergency staircases and safety stairs, in hospitals and schools, and in offices and hotels.
Handrail luminaire profiles used in demanding indoor and outdoor areas have to meet high requirements, including, for example, temperature resistance from -30 to +60 °C, protection against UV radiation and weathering, mechanical strength (deflection under own weight), electrical dissipation and fire-retardant behaviour (UL 94 V0 compliant and halogen-free). The right choice of geometry and material is crucial.
The development, purchasing and sales divisions worked closely together to define the specifications. mobil Kunststoffprofile developed the corresponding tool and produced the first samples based on these specifications. Potential breakage points can be ruled out thanks to the optimal geometry and choice of materials. The new profile is not just manufactured, it is also configured to the correct length at the same time. The counterpart offers further optimisation possibilities – the diffuser in the assembly. By manufacturing from a single source, the profiles can be precisely matched to each other.
Short response time
Rapid sampling made it easy to find the overall solution for geometry and choice of material.
High load-bearing capacity
The new profile meets the high requirements of the different application environments.
Application-oriented assembly
The profile can be easily and reliably installed on the construction site.
